2025 Hacknix with Selwyn-Rakaia Riding Club

A small quality crew of Waimakariri and Selwyn-Rakaia riding club members, turned up to Catherine Somerville’s lovely property in Ellesmere on a fine, sunny day in Canterbury. Oh, what lovely big wide verges you have! Everywhere we rode, and drove, lovely wide verges and in many cases nicely mowed and easy to ride. Cruz found the little lake flies very annoying but had his ears pricked the whole way! Catherine had warned all the neighbours with dogs and gates were closed where people knew we were coming. After a cuppa tea in which people reviewed previous acquaintances Catherine very generously showed us some of the Tristen Tucker work she does these day. We all got some takeaways from that demonstration. “Its made me a quieter, better rider, these days”. That’s what we all strive for don’t we!
